Good Eats: Monmouth Coffee
When you step into Monmouth you get the feeling that this is what Starbucks is trying to be. Small and cozy, filled with trendy people, knowledgable baristas and just enough creeky wood to give the shop a worn-in feel. Monmouth has three locations in London, and I gave their shop next to Borough Market two visits over the last few weeks.
These guys are serious about their brews and have beans hailing from what seems like every coffee growing region on the globe. They’re offerings will put you back a little more than you would normally pay at Starbucks, but considering the quality, atmosphere and area (at the Borough Market location at least), I’d say it’s well worth it.
In addition to the gourmet coffee, you can pick up some reasonably priced homemade baked goods (pictured above) ranging from brownies to croissants. Like the coffee, these tasty treats are high quality and fresh. If you ever find yourself in Borough Market and are hankering for a bit of a coffee break, skip the Starbucks and give Monmouth a go.
